Sole Republican FTC Commissioner Resigns

The only remaining Republican FTC Commissioner, Christine Wilson has stepped down, citing FTC Chair Lina Khan's progressive agenda as the reason for her resignation. This leaves the FTC without a Republican leader, and it isn't the first resignation since Khan took over.  Republican FTC Commissioner Noah Phillips stepped down from the agency last year.

Wilson has been vocal against several of Khan's initiatives including the recent proposed FTC rule to ban noncompetes (with narrow exceptions), and the FTC's new policy statement regarding its authority under Section 5 of the FTC Act.

So what's next following Wilson's "noisy" exit? Who will replace her and when? Only time will tell but in the meantime, the next public forum examining the FTC's proposed rules on noncompetes is this Thursday (February 16th).
