Carbon Conscious - Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration

Please find below a link to an insightful podcast in which Pittsburgh-based energy transactions lawyer Ryan Haddad and Brussels-based trade and customs lawyer Yves Melin discuss how carbon sequestration taking place in North America will help US exporters deal with new European trade rules.

The discussion centered around how carbon capture, utilization and sequestration (CCUS) in the US could interact with the EU’s carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM).

They discussed 1) trade advantages belonging to exporters that actively participate in decarbonization; 2) how certain U.S. exporters to the EU have a head start in dealing with EU’s CBAM; 3) the EU’s relative underdevelopment in terms of CCUS projects.
