Alice is a counsel in Reed Smith’s Transportation Industry Group, in the firm’s New York office.

Alice has extensive transactional experience in the maritime sector. She frequently advises on the financing of vessels, the structuring of vessel ownership, M&A transactions involving shipping companies, and the construction, sales and chartering of vessels. Alice’s shipping finance experience extends to both the U.S. and international markets.

Alice is also highly experienced in U.S. maritime regulatory matters. She helps clients navigate the requirements of the U.S. Jones Act, from its U.S. ownership rules to its coastwise trade restrictions on vessel operations (including in the LNG and offshore wind sectors). Alice frequently represents clients before U.S. federal agencies with jurisdiction in maritime matters, including the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC).

Additionally, Alice is a maritime litigator by background and continues to often represent clients in charter party and other maritime disputes. Her comprehensive understanding of maritime litigation and shipping finance has proven particularly helpful in mortgage foreclosure and other maritime enforcement matters. Alice has handled a number of maritime attachment, arrest and repossession cases under the U.S. Federal Supplemental Admiralty Rules.
