Terry Prempeh is an associate in the Energy & Natural Resources group based in Reed Smith’s Singapore office. Terry works with commodities trading houses, mining companies and international energy companies, as well as banks and funds.
Terry has experience in both transactional matters and disputes within the energy and commodities sector, including in relation to the sale, transportation and financing of commodities.
On the commodities transactional side, Terry has experience of drafting long-term sale and purchase agreements, storage and tolling agreements, and managing project-based and structured commodity finance transactions. He also undertook a six month secondment at a Middle Eastern national oil company where he worked on the marketing, sale and trading of commodities. On the commodities disputes side, he represents clients in multi-jurisdictional disputes and international arbitrations under the rules of the leading arbitral institutions in connection with the international trade of commodities.
On the finance side, Terry’s transactional experience includes assisting clients with drafting and negotiating facility and security documentation and advising on other trade and receivables finance products. He also advises clients on sports financings, including loan and receivables purchase facilities in relation to transfers of football players as well as loan facilities to football clubs secured by media payments.
In addition, Terry is actively involved in many of the firm’s wider initiatives, such as being a mentor to students through Reed Smith’s Responsible Business partnerships and speaking on various panels aimed at increasing the accessibility of the legal profession for students. Terry is also a member of the Kids in Need of Defense immigration law pro bono partnership, which represents children facing immigration issues.
