Cannabis-related beverages raise insurance-coverage concerns

Many companies have made, or are thinking about making, a move into the cannabis-infused beverage space, and the market is likely to grow in the United States (at least eventually). Of course, many, if not all, of these companies already have product liability and other insurance. However, as such companies move into this space, they cannot just assume the insurance they already have will cover them in the event of a cannabis-related claim. Their existing policies may contain marijuana-related and/or other exclusions that would preclude coverage for such claims. So, as they develop these new products, these companies must review their insurance policies and make sure they have and/or obtain the necessary coverages.

It may not be long before cannabis will overlap with almost any beverage, from beer to tea, coffee, flavored water and beyond.
