New Executive Order Sets Cyber Security Standards and Uses Procurement Process to Drive Much Needed Change

Last week, I posted about this Executive Order, and yesterday it was signed by President Biden.

Here it is: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/05/12/executive-order-on-improving-the-nations-cybersecurity/

My colleagues and I will be publishing an analysis of the Executive Order and the sweeping changes it will have on contractors who provide IT to the federal government very shortly, so please look out for it. It will cover the major focus areas of the Executive Order that will impact private sector businesses as well as federal agencies. What strikes me about the Executive Order is how short the timeline is to implement some of the changes. I think it is clear from this Executive Order that the Biden Administration is taking an aggressive stance against the cyber threats that are putting the nation's systems and critical infrastructure at risk.
