U.S. Senate Unanimously Confirms Willie L. Phillips, Jr. as FERC Commissioner

Last night, the U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed Willie L. Phillips, Chairman of the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia (DCPSC), as a Commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Senator Joe Manchin, Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee issued a statement regarding the Senate confirmation stating, “I congratulate Willie Phillips on his confirmation to serve on the FERC. He understands the need to balance affordability and reliability and will bring that outlook to the Commission. And his unanimous confirmation, at a time when the Senate is uniquely divided, is evidence that he is supremely qualified and the right person to fully seat FERC.” Phillips enjoyed broad support from both sides of the aisle. His term will expire June 30, 2026.
