Is a further delay to UK border checks on EU imports on the cards?

Under the current draft of the Border Operating Model, from 1 July 2022, certain customs checks and requirements are to be introduced in the UK in respect of goods imported from the EU (for example, the introduction of safety and security declarations).

Due to the potential cost implications and current pressures on supply chains, the UK Government is now considering ordering another delay to the introduction of the above mentioned changes. We understand that a final decision on this will be released in the coming weeks to allow traders time to plan ahead. So watch this space for further developments.
