California Advances Green Hydrogen Legislation

Yesterday the California Senate passed Senate Bill 1075, which would create the "California Clean Hydrogen Hub Fund."  Monies from this Fund would then be used to "provide grants for clean hydrogen projects developed in California, to match federal funds granted to a regional clean hydrogen hub, or to fund or match research grants that may be necessary to meet the goal of affordably producing hydrogen from renewable feedstock at scale."

A more complete summary of the legislation can be found here.

SB 1075 now moves on to the California Assembly, where we anticipate it will be approved by the end of the legislative session on August 31.

“There is no way to get to 100% renewable energy that I can see right now without hydrogen in the mix. It doesn’t exist.” ~ Los Angeles Department of Water and Power General Manager Marty Adams
