Earlier this year I was privileged to be able to contribute to the aviation community with our very first Sustainable Aviation Forum which will be held annually. Truly a labor of love from all volunteers Women in Aviation International Singapore Chapter, Jacqueline L., Jago Harvard-Walls, Zenia Chang and Moushumi (Kirtania) Lou-Ann Seet, with special mention Marie-Louise Philippe who is always encouraging me to think 10x, 20x bigger than what I originally planned for myself to deliver.
This is a gathering of like-minded friends, pitching in to harness the creative power of:
- sharing across industry verticals
- growing a community where we can build each other up with both words and deeds
- challenging and refining our work so we can grow together, celebrating our work and informing others of what is possible
I started the session quoting Jane Goodall “you cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” More than that, everything we do (or fail to) has a knock on effect. That is what this community is about.
The session focused on key developments in sustainable aviation, including a new sustainability programme which is being set up by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. We are seeing increased focus on sustainability across the industry and new regulation, such as the EU ETS placing greater obligations on companies.
