For any French speakers out there, CNIL (the French data protection authority) has just released draft guidance on the use of cookies, which is out for consultation until 25 February - not long! This follows guidance released last summer which stated further information would be provided explaining the practical steps to take to ensure compliance - this document fulfils that promise, and at only 21 pages, it's not too much of a headache.
One thing I noticed from a quick glance is that model cookie banner wording is provided by CNIL to show how to inform users of the different cookies a website drops in a compliant manner. I'd love to see more of this from the ICO. The guidance is set out by cookie-related issue (almost all of these relate somehow to consent). Parfait!
P.S. You can upload PDFs to Google Translate... just saying.
